By letter dated December 15, 2021, Holtec International (Holtec) submitted an application to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) for Certificate of Compliance (CoC) No. 1014, Amendment No. 18, to the HI-STORM 100 System, pursuant to the requirements of Part 72 of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations.

The staff has reviewed Holtecs responses to NRCs request for supplemental information and has determined the application, as supplemented, now contains sufficient technical information in scope and depth to begin a detailed technical review. This letter acknowledges acceptance of your application.

We have established a schedule for the review and estimated that the staff may need approximately 980 hours0.0113 days <br />0.272 hours <br />0.00162 weeks <br />3.7289e-4 months <br /> to complete its review. The schedule allows for the staff to complete its technical review and issue a request for additional information (RAI) in February 2023. If Holtec provides sufficient responses to the RAI by March 2023, and a second RAI is not needed, the CoC would be submitted to Rulemaking in August 2023. Rulemaking is estimated to take 6 months, and if there are no significant adverse comments received during the comment period, the CoC will become effective in February 2024.
