Dear Mr. Narayanan:

By letter dated March 5, 2020, TN Americas LLC (TN) submitted a renewal application to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) for the TN-32 dry storage cask system, Certificate of Compliance (CoC) No. 1021, pursuant to the requirements of Part 72 of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations.

The staff has reviewed TNs renewal application and has determined the application contains sufficient technical information in scope and depth to begin a detailed technical review. This letter acknowledges acceptance of your application.

We have established a schedule for the review and estimated that the staff may need approximately 1500 hours0.0174 days <br />0.417 hours <br />0.00248 weeks <br />5.7075e-4 months <br /> to complete its review. The schedule allows for the staff to complete its technical review by the end of September 2020 and issue a request for additional information (RAI) in early November 2020. If TN provides sufficient responses to the RAI by January 2021, and a second RAI is not needed, the CoC would be submitted to Rulemaking in May 2021.

Rulemaking is estimated to take 6 months, and if there are no significant adverse comments received during the comment period, the CoC will become effective in November 2021. In general, no additional changes to the application should be submitted except for changes resulting from your response to a RAI.
