CORRECTION TO NAC INTERNATIONAL TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS FOR AMENDMENT NO. 7 TO MAGNASTOR STORAGE SYSTEMS FOR CERTIFICATE OF COMPLIANCE NO. 1031 (CAC NO. 001028, DOCKET NO.
72-1031, EPID: L-2018-LLA-0561)
Dear Mr. Fowler:
By letter dated December 14, 2018 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML18352A886), the cask vendor, NAC International, Inc. notified the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff that Technical Specifications, Appendix A to Amendment No. 7 for the MAGNASTOR storage system for Certificate of Compliance No.
1031 included an editorial error. Specifically, Technical Specification A.5.2.e should have referred to the operating procedures for the newly added Passive MAGNASTOR Transfer Cask (PMTC).
Upon further review, the NRC staff determined that in Amendment No. 7, Technical Specification A.5.2.e inadvertently omitted a necessary reference to the applicable procedures in the Technical Specifications. The NRC staff determined this omission is editorial and non-substantive. Technical Specification A.5.2.e should read:
The integrity of the inner port cover welds to the closure lid at the vent port and at the drain port shall be verified in accordance with the procedures in Section 9.1.1 for the MTC or 9.4.1 for the PMTC.
The NRC processed a corrective amendment to Technical Specification A.5.2.e. Enclosure 1 (ADAMS Accession No. ML19045A346) contains the page with the corrected technical specifications for the CoC No. 1031 for Amendment No. 7.
A notice was published on March 20, 2019 (84 FR 10257), in the Federal Register reflecting this action.
