It is our understanding that Holtec International (Holtec) has submitted an updated Revision 1 to Amendment 0 of Certificate of Compliance (CoC) 1040 to remove the exemption from taking dose rate measurement on previously loaded Vertical Ventilated Modules (\\7VM)s. The proposed revision is applicable to the HI-STORM UMAX system and pertains to the dose rate measurements required to be taken on the VVM lid when loading casks for storage. Specifically, the dose rate limit applicable to these measurements would be changed to a new/corrected value in section/Technical Specification 5.3.4 of Appendix A, and the precise locations for where the measurements are to be taken on the lid would also be revised in section/Technical Specification 5.3.8 of Appendix A.

As a general licensee for operation of the HI-STORM UMAX-based independent spent fuel storage installation (ISfSI) located on the site of the Callaway Energy Center (Callaway Plant), Ameren Missouri (Union Electric) is submitting this letter to inform you that we intend to adopt proposed Revision 1 to Amendment 0 of CoC 1040. Ameren will also take measurements at the new locations on all VVMs loaded prior to the effective date of CoC 1040 Amendment 0 Revision 1. This letter serves as documentation of our voluntary adoption and support of the revision. It is also our understanding that a 180-day implementation period has been requested for implementation the CoC revision by general licensees.
