ISSUANCE OF CERTIFICATE OF COMPLIANCE NO. 1004, RENEWED AMENDMENT NO. 17 FOR THE STANDARDIZED NUHOMS HORIZONTAL MODULAR STORAGE SYSTEM (DOCKET NO. 72-1004, CAC NO. 001028, EPID: L-2020-LLA-0128)

Dear Mr. Narayanan:

By a letter dated June 11, 2020 (Agencywide Document Access and Management System

[ADAMS] Accession No. ML20174A089), as supplemented on September 11, 2020 (ADAMS Accession No. ML20255A206), TN Americas LLC submitted an application in accordance with Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR) Part 72 for an amendment to Certificate of Compliance (CoC) No. 1004 for the Standardized NUHOMS Horizontal Modular Storage System. Amendment No. 17 revises the certificate and technical specifications to add heat load zoning configurations 11-13 for the 61BTH Type 2 dry shielded canister and change the maximum assembly heat load from 1.2 kW to 1.7 kW. Amendment No. 17 also makes minor clarifications to the certificate of compliance.

As stated in the Federal Register (86 FR 15563, March 24, 2021), the effective date of Amendment No. 17 to CoC No. 1004 is June 7, 2021. Attached are CoC No. 1004, Amendment No. 17, and the corresponding technical specifications and final safety evaluation report (SER).

This certificate constitutes the approval and conditions for the use of the Standardized NUHOMS Horizontal Modular Storage System for the storage of spent nuclear fuel under the general licensing provisions of 10 CFR 72.210.
