DISCHARGE NUMBER AND DESCRIPTION:      Outfall 001c Lov Volume Waste Radwaste Discharge Tanks PARAMETER AND PERMIT LIMIT:    Total Iron, 1.0 mg/l NONCOMPLIANCE, DATE, AND DURATION:      1.2 mg/1, 20 September 1982, 9 hours CAUSE E NONCOMPLIANCE:
The exact cause of this noncompliance is unknown.      Possible sources of this iron are from evaporator carryover, or acidic distillate from the evaporators, solubilizing iron. The pH of the radwaste discharge tanks, prior to neutral-ization, have tended to be acidic.
CORRECTIVE ACTION:
The present treatment by evaporation is providing expected treatment efficiency.
The station will continue monitoring this outfall to assess the need for addi-tional processing to improve iron removal.
