l LASALLE COUNTY NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION N.P.D.E.S. PERMIT NO: ILOO48151 NONCOMPLIANCE REPORT DISCHARGE NUMBER AND DESCRIPTION: 001(a) Regenerative Wastes Solution Discharge Tank PARAMETER AND PERMIT LIMIT: pH, 6.0-9.0 S.U.

Total Suspended solids, 30 ppa daily maximum NONCOMPLIANCE, DATE, AND DURATION:

9.18 S.U. pH, 04Jun85, approximately 1 hour1.157407e-5 days
2.777778e-4 hours
1.653439e-6 weeks
3.805e-7 months
20 minutes.

80 ppe Total Suspended Solids, 04Jun85, approximately 1 hour1.157407e-5 days
2.777778e-4 hours
1.653439e-6 weeks
3.805e-7 months
20 minutes CAUSE OF NONCOMPLIANCE:

Prior to discharging the OWM12T Regenerative Wastes Solution Discharge Tank, a grab sample was collected and analyzed for pH and total suspended solids. The 6.8 S.U. pH and 2.3 ppm total suspended solids results indicated the tank contents met NPDES permit limits. Therefore, the tank was discharged to the Cooling Pond.

However, it is believed the sample collected prior to discharge was not representative of the tank due to inadequate mixing. The mixing is believed to be inadequate since only low flow can be obtained through the transfer pumps.

CORRECTIVE ACTION:

The discharge was isolated. AIR l-85-67012 has been written to track the investigation of the course of low flow through the transfer pumps.
