CAUSE OF NONCOMPLIANCE:

ll Most discharges of the Waste Neutralization Tanks (W.N.T.) are routed to the Wastewater Treatment Facility (W.W.T.F.) at a low flowrate (< 100 ]

GPM), thus allowir.g solids to settle in the lowpoint of the W.N.T.

discharge piping. Occasionally V.N.T.'s are discharged to the cooling lake at a high flowrate (1 500 GPM), apparently dislodging the  !

accumulated solids in the lowpoint of the discharge pipe, and creating a  ;

solids excursion. Pre-discharge samples are drawn off the recirculation piping of the W.N.T., and are representative only of the contents of the tank.

CORRECTIVE ACTION: '

An investigation into possible solutions to the problem of dislodging accumulated solids in the lowpoint of the discharge pipe is underway. In the meantime, V.N.T. 's discharged to the cooling lake will only be performed at a low flovrate (< 100 GPM). The standstill scid sump will be cleaned. Also, any solids on tne floor in areas which drain to the acid sump will be cleaned, s
