- 2) ;Eggniative Integrity on Cooling Pond. Dike 3
TheTvegetative. integrity-of the cooling pond dike-was inspected in:
accordance with LaSalle County. Surveillance HTS-1000-5.:. Inspections wero-perfcomed-on 3/17/89, 4/28/89,'5/17/89, 6/23/89, 7/20/89, 8'28/89,.9/28/89 and 30/20/89. The.results of these inspections were as'followss' a)
Ground cover, Crown Vetch in'particular, remained intact dur.ing the entire growing season of:1989.- The only exceptions were a small path up the slope of the dike'near; marker 140 and a smalliarea'of degraded vegetation at the top of the dike near marker 215.
There was a hole
'5 in the fence near marker-140 and itJappeared that people were using; it as an access to the lake,for fishing.
The holeLin the fence:was 1;
repaired and the vegetation began,to grow back. ;The-small, j
approximately 5' by 5',-area of degraded vegetation near the top of the dike'near marker 215'was:noted'inithe May inspection.

was recovered by the June? inspection'and=no appreciable! erosion has I
occurred.

Canadian Thistle was present onEthe cooling lake l dike. -The level off i
infestation was approximately the same as that=seen inl1988.- No application of herbicide _was necessary.tx> control.this weed..
