CAUSE OF NONCOMPLIANCE:

The OWM03T Regenerative Wastes Solution Discharge Tank was pumped to the Wastewater Treatment Facility immediately prior to discovering the 10.2 S.U. pH, and is suspected to be the cause of this excursion. A sample of the 0WM03T tank was analyzed for pH prior to being pumped to the Wastewater Treatment Facility. The 8.5 S.U. result indicated the tank met MPDES permit liais.

However, it is believed the sample collected prior to pumping to the Wastewater Treatment Facility was not representative of the tank due to inadequate mixing. The mixing is believed to be inadequate since only low flow can be obtained through the transfer pumps.

CORRECTIVE ACTION:

The Wastewater Treatment Facility discharge was isolated. The clear well was i pumped back to he equalization tank and neutralized. l l

AIR l-85-67012 has been written to track the investigation of low flow through j the transfer pumps.
