DISCHARGE NUMBER AND DESCRIPTION: 001(a) Demineralizer Regenerative Wastes.

PARAMETER AND PERMIT LIMIT: Total Suspended Solids, 15 ppm, 30 day average.

NONCOMPLIANCE, DATE, AND DURATION:

20 ppm Total Suspended Solids, 31 Aug 85, 30 day average.

CAUSE OF NONCOMPLIANCE:

The 30-day average limit was exceeded because of one discharge which contained 28 ppm total suspended solids.

A grab sample collected prior to discharge indicated the tank met NPDES discharge limits. It is suspected that the sample was non-representatise due to sampling methodology.

_ CORRECTIVE ACTION:

The composite sampler previously out of service has been repaired and returned to service. Collected analytical data for grab and composite sampling will be evaluated to determine validity of TSS analysis for flowpath determination prior to actual discharge.
