The Wastewater Treatment (WWTF) Oil Separator Inlet bays contain excessive sludge. As a consequence, the oil separator was not capable of performing its intended function, and oil was admitted to the inrrF process. The polymer system was not adding the proper concentration of polymers.
CORRBCTIVE ACTION:
Wastewater Treatment System media filter "A" was changed out on 25SEP85.
The oil absorbant booms in the clearwell and effluent chamber have been replaced.
Replacement Oil Separator Tube Bundles are on order and will be installed within I week of arrival on-site. Action Item Record 373-200-85-18001 has been written to track this item.
The polymer skids are in operation. Action Item Record 373-200-85-18000 has been written to assure the polymer concentration is in accordance with the chemical vendor (Dearborn) recommendation. The vendor will perform additional jar tests once the oil separator tube bundles are replaced and the oil is skimmed off the Equalization Tank to the extent possible.
