1953 Dear Clairt Your letter of August 14, 1963, arrived while I was out of the city, but I read it upon my return on August 24.
In the meantiana, a copy had been forwarded to the Director of Regulation. By this time you have probably received his reply dated September 4.
I want to assure you that in the case of the proposed Bodega Head reactor all matters relating to the public health and safety will be carefully weighed by the causaission before final judgment is rendered. As Mr. Price r.oted in his latter to you, the Cassaissica's jurisdiction does not relate to questions of local soning, esthetics, etc., which are matters more properly within local and state jurisdiction.
I appreciate the statement in your letter wherein you reiterate your vital interest in our over-all atomic energy program. The State of California has contributed greatly to this country's nuclear energy efforts and your continuing interest in and support of the program has been of real value.
I was pleased to learn that you are now convalescing nicely at the Bethesda Naval Hospital and I hope that you will soon be in the best of health.
With kiddest personal regards, sincerely,
. T. f. : i.
