By letters dated September 9 and December 28, 1988, and April 3,1989, you ]

submitted information regarding the above subject. The December 28, 1988, and j April 3,1989, letters stated that the reactor coolant systems for Catawba j Units 1 and 2 and McGuire Unit 1 are not subjected to the thermal stresses  !

described in NRC Bulletin 88-08. Furthermore, you stated that no further  !

surveillar}ce is required until the end of cycle 6 (May 22,1992) for Catawba j Unit 1, the end of cycle 5 (November 22,1992) for Catawba Unit 2, and end of 1 cycle 8 (December 7,1992) for McGuire Unit 1.

In view of the different responses to the bulletin received from other West-inghouse plants, similar to Catawba and McGuire, we require your response to the enclosed request for additional information before we can complete our review.

The reporting and/or recordkeeping requirements contained in this letter affect fewer than ten respondents; therefore, OMB clearance is not required under P.L.96-511.
