We have received your form, dated July 10, 1989, which transmitted Revision 6b to the Generating Stations Emergency Plan (GSEP) applicable to all of your nuclear gennrating stations. We have reviewed this revision and have concluded t it it is acceptable and does not decrease the effectiveness of the GSEP.
Revision 6b resulted from the development of a revised Nuclear Accident Reporting System (NARS) form by the State of Illinois.
This form, which is utilized to format the initial notification message to State officials following any emergency declaration, became effective on June 30, 1989. The revised NARS form provides greater flexibility for listing potentially affected downwind areas from the nuclear station.
Although no longer specified on the NARS form, we understand that your communicators will continue to provide such additional information as the affected Unit and/or relevant Emergency Action Level (EAL) upon request by an appropriate State official.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Commission's regulations, a copy of this letter will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
