REVISED TEMPERATURE PROFILE - PILGRIM

Reference:

-TAC No. 67809 By let+er dated March 15, 1988, you provided General Electric Repcet, EAS-98-0887. "Drywell Temperature Analysis for Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station." The report provided the revised temperature profile for the dry-well and was reviewed by;the NRC staff to determine if the drywell airspace temperature profile is acceptable for equipment qualification purposes.

Supplemental information was provided by letter dated September 7, 1988.

We have completed our review of your submittals and concluded that the analysis (EAS-98-0887) provides a reasonable basis for determining the drywell airspace temperature profile used for equipment qualification. This finding is based on the conservative assumption that manual spray initiation occurs 30 minutes into an event. Details of our review which support our finding of acceptability are included in the enclosed safety evaluation (SE). We noted in our SE that the instrumentation for both the temperature and pressure monitors is safety grade.. We request that this be documented in the next update of the Pilgrim Updated Final Safety Analysis Report.

This completes our activities related to the above referenced TAC number.
