NRC REGION I - UTILITY SYMPOSIUMNORKSHOP ON ENGINEERING'S ROLE IN PLANT SUPPORT This is an invitation to you and other members of your staff to attend and +

participate in a Region I symposium / workshop to be held at-the Sheraton Valley 3 Forge Hotel in King of Prussia, Pennsylvania on February 20, 1991 from noon to 5:00 p.m. and February 21, 1991 from 8:45 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. The objective of the symposium is to promote a dialog and better understanding between licensee's engineering managers and NRC regarding engineering'.s role in support of all plant activities. We recommend that participation include'seni.or nuclear executives and engineering managers of both corporate and site organizations.

The symposium is in the planning stage and preliminary topics for discussion have been selected: elements of a good engineering organization, licensees' actions with degraded conditions including operability /reportability determina-tions, and the modification process including 10CFR 50.59 reviews'.

As the plans for the symposium are further finalized, interested individuals-will be selected to participate as speakers or facilitators and a. final agenda.
