RESPONSE T0_NRC BULLETIN 88-04, "P0TENTIAL SAFETY-RELATED PUMP LOSS"

REFERENCE:

' TAC Number 69955 NRC Bulletin 88-04, Potential Safety-Related Pump Loss, requested that licensees investigate its pump and piping configuration to assure the design does not result in' dead-heading of one~or more pumps. The bulletin further N -

requested identification of affected systems, corrective actions, adequacy 'N of minimum flow bypass lines and a written response address.ing the concerns including a justification for continued operation (JCO).

By letter dated July L13,1988, you responded to the bulletin providing the information requested. You indicated that you endorse the' Boiling Water ReactorOvr,ersGroup(BWROG)positiononthebulletin. Plant specific-information relative to the Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station was also provided in your submittal.

JJ Based on ~your: investigation, you concluded that no additional modifications or effort is needed to address the concerns identified in.the bulletin. Further,

- you concluded that the BWROG JC0 provided adequate assurance that the required systems; can perform their safety functions.

We have determined that you have performed the necessary actions to address the issues discussed in the bulletin. Therefore, we consider this action complete and closes TAC number 69955.
