several Items of Generic Letter (GL) 83-28, among them, Item 2.1 Equipment Classification and Vendor Interface.

The staff has completed its review of Item 2.1 Part 1 (Equipment Classification) and concludes that PGE's response for this topic is acceptable. The staff was assisted in its review by EG8G Idaho. Enclosed is our Safety Evaluation along with EG8G Idaho's Technical Evaluation, which provides the bases for our conclusion.

Part 2 (Vendor Interface) to Item 2.1 of GL 83-28 will be the subject of further correspondence.
