Dear Mr. Quennoz:

An NRC inspection was conducted from August 31-September 3,1998, at your Trojan '
Nuclear Plant. The enclosed report presents the scope and results of that inspection.
The inspection covered your maintenance program, safety review program and follow up on
previous inspector follow items related to the modular spent fuel cooling system. Specific
areas examined included training and certification of qualified evaluators, independent
reviewers and independent safety reviewers; procedural controls; and safety reviews.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter
and its enclosure will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room (PDR).

SUBJECT: NRC INSPECTION REPORT NO. 50-344/1998-202
Dear Mr. Quennoz:
An NRC inspection was conducted from August 31-September 3,1998, at your Trojan l
Nuclear Plant. The enclosed report presents the scope and results of that inspection.
The inspection covered your maintenance program, safety review program and follow up on
previous inspector follow items related to the modular spent fuel cooling system. Specific
areas examined included training and certification of qualified evaluators, independent
reviewers and independent safety reviewers; procedural controls; and safety reviews.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter
and its enclosure will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room (PDR). l

them with you.
