Dear Mr Davis:
In accordance with Technical Specification 3.7.9.1 Action 6.2(c) and as stated in my letter dated March 18, 1987, this follow-up report is being submitted. On March 17, 1987, a portion of the Fire Suppression Water System was made inoperable due to a leak in the piping on the southeast portion of the outside ring header. Backup Fire Suppression is available from nearby fire hydrants and the Plant Fire Truck. No safety related Suppression Systems were removed from service due to isolating this section of pipe.
Upon excavation, it was discovered that a small hole had developed in the cement asbestos pipe used for the Fire Protection piping in this area. The required parts to facilitate repair of the system have been ordered and the system is expected to be back in service no later than April 30, 1987.
