Dear Mr. Keppler:
This is to confirm a telephone report made by our Assistant Plant Manager, Mr. E. L. Townley, to your Mr. N. Jackiw at 1508 hours0.0175 days <br />0.419 hours <br />0.00249 weeks <br />5.73794e-4 months <br /> and Mr. J. Heller, NRC Inspector, on October 20, 1983. At this time Mr. Jackiw was advised that due to a misunderstanding in communicating the requirements for fire protection, the hourly fire watch checks for the Plant's Drumming Room were not performed as required.
Upon discovery of this situation, immediate action was taken to restore the fire watch checks.
Subsequent investigation showed that the minimum number of detectors re-quired to be in service per Technical Specification Section 3.3.3.7, Table 3.3-10 (#6, Zone 2) was not violated. A fire watch had been set up for the Drumming Room as a precautionary measure due to work in progress which required jumpering out the two det- ' ors in that room. Therefore, the prompt telephone report advising of tais event was unnecessary and is hereby retracted.
