We have received the enclosed Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) letter dated September 17, 1985, which included the revised schedule of corrective actions submitted by the State of Illinois for the recommendations identified in Illinois as a result of the exercise held on June 11-12, 1985.'
The exercise report was sent to you on October 3, 1985, from-this office.
The FEMA Headquarters and Region V staff have reviewed the schedule of corrective action submitted and have determined that the responses submitted were adequate. l We fully recognize that the recommendations to be implemented may. involve actions by other parties and political institutions which are not under your direct control. Nonetheless, we would expect the subject of offsite-preparedness for the area around the Byron Nuclear Nuclear Generating Station to be addressed by you as well as others.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Commission's regulations, a copy of this letter and the enclosure will be placed in the NRC's Public Document Room.

Illinois Schedule of Corrective Actions for Deficiencies Identified During the Byron Nuclear Power Plant Offsite Radiological Emergency Preparedness Exercise Conducted on June 11-12, 1985 Attached is the proposed schedule of corrective actions submitted by the State of Illinois for the Category B deficiencies noted in the Final Report for the Byron Nuclear Power Plant Offsite Radiological Emergency Preparedness Exercise conducted on June 11-12, 1985. The exercise report was sent to you on August 29, 1985.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Headquarters and Region V staff have reviewed the schedule of corrective actions submitted by the State and found it to be adequate. Based on the exercise and the corrective actions schedule, we cannot identify any impediments to protecting the health and' safety of the public in the event of an incident at the Byron Nuclear Power Plant. Therefore, the approval under FEMA rule 44 CFR 350 will remain in effect.
