Thank you for your letter dated June'6,1989, in response to our' April 28, 1989 letter concerning an allegation pertaining to a specific vital area l
. door not being checked at the frequency required by your security procedures
'at the Byron Generating Station (Allegation RIII-89-A-0055).
-In our letter, we requested that you investigate the allegation and submit the results of your investigation to the NRC.
Based upon interview results with the person who allegedly failed to make the required checks, and a review of security computer access records for the door identified'in the allegation, your investigation concluded that the vital area door was checked as often as. required by the station security plan and
. procedures.
Therefore, the allegation was not substantiated.
We found your investigation to be sufficient to support your conclusions and have no additional questions regarding this matter.
We request that you retain the supporting documentation for your investigation of this allegation for a minimum of one year from the date of this letter.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Commission's regulations, a copy of this letter will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.,
