NRC INSPECTION REPORT 50-454/99005(DRS)
Dear Mr. Kingsley:

On April 22,1999, the NRC completed an inspection at your Byron Nuclear Power Station.
The inspection reviewed activities associated with your inservice inspection efforts including

selective examination of steam generator maintenance and examination records, calculations,
observation of examination performance and interviews with maintenance and engineering
staff. The enclosed report presents the results of that inspection.
No violations of NRC requirements were identified during the course of this inspection.
Our inspection determined that Byron ISI inspection and repcir activities were being
satisfactorily performed. The first cycle inspection of the replacement steam generators was
aggressive and was implemented to the current industry guidelines,
in accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter, and its
enclosures will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room (PDR).
We will gladly discuss any questions you have concerning this inspection.
