          (Enclosure 1) for the period of October 7,1986 through March 31, 1988. The                                            {
          report is based on the SALP Board Report forwarded to you by my June 23, 1988                                        '
I        letter (Enclosure 2) and on an NRC evaluation (Enclosure 3) of your July 15,
!
          1988 comments (Enclosure 4).
          The SALP was discussed with you on July 14, 1988 at the Region I Office in King
          of Prussia, Pennsylvania. (Meeting attendees are listed in Enclosure 5.) We
          believe that the discussion improved mutual understanding of your activities
          and of our SALP program.
l        Evaluation of your SALP comments resulted in amending the Emergency Prepared-
l        ness analysis and board recommendations for the reasons stated in Enclosure 3.
          However, the SALP ratings did not change.
          Our overall assessment is that the Yankee Nuclear Power Station was operated
          safely and conservatively during the SALP period.
          We appreciate the review you gave the SALP report.
          No reply to this letter is required.    Thank you for your cooperation.
