This letter refers to the above subject physical security inspection of the Yankee Nuclear Power

Station by Mr. A. Della Ratta of this office. Our preliminary findings were discussed by Mr.
Della Ratta with Mr. N. St. Laurent and other members of your staff at the conclusion of the
inspection.
The purpose and scope of this inspection are described in the enclosed NRC Region I Inspection .
Report. The inspection consisted of observation's by the inspector, interviews with personnel,

and examination of selected procedures and records.
This inspector concluded that the physical security program, as implemented, was directed
i
toward protecting public health and safety. No safety concerns or violations were identified.
