identified in the inspection package are in accordance with Section 5.7. Rung repairs are rungs added adjacent to cable tray splices in order to maintain a maximum rung spacing of 9 inches. Rung repairs can be identified by a welder ID symbol stamp or veld inspection sticker next to the rung weld, or by the following three conditions existing together:

The spacing between the last two rungs of the tray section adjacent to the splice is different than the spacing between factory welded rungs. Factory installed rungs are spaced 6" +0 -1/8" center to center.

The original galvanized coating is not visible on the weld metal at both ends of the rung, i.e., the weld is completely coated i with Galvanox or equivalent, or the bare weld metal is exposed.

A gap cover plate has not been installed Og across the spliced joint.

5.3.5 For ladder type trays, the maximum rung spacing is 9 inches at all tray fittings and splices.

5.3.6 All Bolts are properly installed. This is verified with the following criteria:

All bolts are hand tight.

Vendor splice plate bolts are to have a nut and a lecking device.

t

! For bolts that protrude into the tray, verify

! that the exposed end inside the tray does not

< present a cable hazard or if the tray has a l cover, verify that the threaded end of the i bolt is on the outside of the tray.

5.4 Clearance i Verify clearance between cable tray and piping per the I

following:

7- g 6" minimum clearance shall be maintained between cable g'-] tray and Class I and II pipe including insulation, unless otherwise noted on the drawings.

I

! 4 I

s .

Q1-016 Rev. 3

(-~s) y 5.0 INSTRUCTION (Cont'd) 1" clearance shall be maintained between cable tray and non-safety related and Class III piping. 1" minimum is to be maintained from the outside of the pipe or insulation.

NOTE: Class I or II piping can be identified by the mechanical I.D.

Tags. Typical Class II spool piece tag number: 2"-CS-1-8-2501R-2 (last numeral is Class). If tag cannot be seen the pipe support number or a valve number taken from an in-line valve may be used to determine class. Typical Class I support tag number: SI-1-102-008-C41K (last numeral is class). Support will be the same or higher Class as the pipe it supports.

5.5 Fire Stops When trays pass through floors and where trays pass through **

walls designated as fire walls, check for the presence of fire barrier material.

5.6 Separation criteria

}

Separation distance between trays having different trains or channels shall be 3-feet horizontally and 5-feet vertically in general plant areas and 1-foot horizontally and 3-feet vertically in the cable spreading area and control room.

Where separation as described above has not been maintained between different train or channel trays, verify that solid bottom trays, covers, or barriers have been installed and that a minimum of 1-inch has been maintained between the trays (see I Attachment 6.1).

l i

The minimum separation distance between trays and conduit shall be as defined below:

a. Between a tray and any conduit of a different train or channel, separation shall be in accordance with Attachment 6.2.

l This does not apply to Train "C" conduit and N.I.S.

l conduit (raceway functions 6R, 6B, 6W, and 6Y.)

b. Train "C" conduit including non-scheduled conduits (lighting, communications, fire detection, etc.) shall maintain a minimum of 1-inch from the top, bottom or side of any tray.

(~- 5.0 INSTRUCTION (Cont'd) l 5.6 Separation Criteria (Cont'd)  !

c. Tray to N.I.S. conduit (raceway functions 6R, 6B, 6W, and 6Y) shall be in accordance with Attachment 6.3.

The minimum separation distance between trays and cable shall be in accordance with Attachment 6.7.

5.7 Welding Prior to the start of inspection ensure that welds are clean of any foreign material which would impede an adequate visual inspection. Coatings need not be removed unless the inspector feels that due to excessive and/or uneven coating application an adequate inspection cannot be performed. The Inspector shall then contact the Level III and with his concurrence the coating may be removed.

When it is necessary to measure weld dimensions during the ,

course of an inspection, such dimensions should be determined as accurately as is practically achievable using standard weld inspection tools.

A The acceptance criteria for this section applies in all cases

() unless otherwise specified on the drawings.

5.7.1 Location

- Verify that the weld configuration and location are as specified per the detailed drawing. The type of weld (welded splice plate, rung repair, etc.) and its location should be recorded.
