By letters dated November 10, 1988 (JPN-88-061 and JPN-88-062), Mare a , 1989 .l (JPN-89-012),andJanuary 29 1990 (JPN-90-012), you submitted -the results of t the inspections and repairs performed during the~ Reload 8/ Cycle 9; Refueling.

Outage at the James A. FitzParick Nuclear Power Plant.  ;

As described in'our letter of November 18, 1988, we have reviewed these.

submittals and concluded that the inspections and repairs performed during the outage are acceptable for plant operation during Cycle 9. Enclosed is the safety evaluation which documents the basis for this conclusion.

In addition, the staff has evaluated your submittal dated August 19, 1988 1 (JPN-88-043) regarding application of the resistance heating stress improvement (RHSI) process to two recirculation piping welds for IGSCC mitigation. The . t staff's evaluation and conclusion regarding~this issue is also included in the 1 enclosed safety evaluation.

This action closes TAC No. 69162.
