NRCBulletin90-02requestedthatallboilingwaterreactor(BWR) licensees

.that currently use channel boxes for a second bundle lifetime verify that current critical power ratio (CPR) technical specification operating and safety limits are met. In addition, the Bulletin requested that those BWRs which currently'use channel boxes for a second bundle lifetime advise the NRC within 30 days of the number of such channel boxes, their disposition in the core, as well as other information.

'By letter' dated May 16, 1990, you responded to Bulletin 90-02.and indicated

.that channel boxes are not reused at the FitzPatrick Nuclear Power Plant after

=their first fuel bundle lifetime. In addition, you indicated that during the l1990. refueling outage the plant implemented a methodology developed by the General Electric Company which will adjust the operating CPR to account for channel bow bow using the plant _ process computer.
