REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

~ LOW PRES 5URE COOLANT INJECTION PUMP FLOW SURVEILLANCE AMENDMENT The proposed amendment would, among other changes, modify tee Limiting Condition for Operation statements addressing inoperability of one Residual Heat Removal (RHR) pump (Specification 3.5.A.3.a) and one Low Pressure Coolant Injection (LPCI) subsystem (Specification 3.5.A.3.6), which has been addressed in the supporting documentation. However, the changes made to the corresponding Surveillance Requirements (Specification 4.5.A 3) only address loss of one LPCI subsystem. Since this would require loss of both RHR pumps in one loop, the proposed change to the surveillance requirements does not address loss of one RHR pump.

Please justify this approach or modify the amendment proposal to include an appropriate surveillance test requirement to address the condition where one RHR pump is made or found to be inoperable.
