DPC Letter, Lin Mr to Keppler, LAC-8338, date-June 9, 1982 Gentlemen:
In accordance with Reference 1, DPC requests permission to increase the primary system temperature at LACBWR above 212 F.
This request was predicated by the reactor shutdown on June 5,1982 due to primary coolant alpha activity in excess of the Technical Specification limit of 5 x 10-6 pCi/gm.
A description of the circumstances leading to the increased alpha activity is contained in Reference 2, which is attached to this letter. Since the increase in alpha activity was due to resuspension of alpha bearing materials l
in the coolant, rather than new fuel failure, DPC feels justified in requesting permission to increase primary temperature above 212 F.
Prompt attention to this request would be appreciated.
