SUBJECT:

DAIRYLAND POWER COOPERATIVE LA CROSSE BOILING WATER REACTOR (LACBWR)

PROVISIONAL OPERATING LICENSE NO. DPR-45 EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS PLAN EXEMPTION REQUEST

Gentlemen:

The purpose of this letter is to provide supplemental information to the exemption request letter of Reference 1. In that letter, DPC requested an exemption from the requirements to conduct an annual emergency preparedness exercise. The intent of the letter was to request an exercise exemption'for the 1987 exercise only. DPC plans to conduct an emergency preparedness exercise -

within 180 days after the date of NRC approval of the LACBWR Emergency Plan revision submitted September 30, 1987. This will allow for training the LACBWR Staff in their new emergency preparedness assignments. j

{

A second request in the letter of Reference I was for an exemption from the requirement to produceand distribute an annual information brochure to the residents of the 5-mile EPZ for LACBWR. DPC does intend to distribute a final letter to the residents of the current EPZ informing them of the current status 3 of LACBWR and that there is no further need for public protective actions.

This letter will be sent within 90 days following NRC approval of the revised Emergency Plan.

Sincerely, DAIRYLAND POWER COOPERATIVE 8710070809 871001  !
