REFERENCE:

(1) NRC Letter, F. Miraglia, to All Power Reactor Licensees and Applicants for an Operating License, dated August 8, 1988s(Acc. No. 8808170150).

Presently, there is no need for scheduling any LACBWR personnel for j

licensing exams.

LACBWR has been permanently shut down and defueled and present operations cor.Jist of monitoring spent fuel stored in the Fuel Element Storage Well and continuing to operate all of the required support systems.

J Because many experienced personnel in the Operations Department have resigned or have been reassigned, and new personnel have been assigned to Operations, the need for some sort of license / certification program for Control Room i

operators and/or Certified Fuel Handlers has become apparent.

It is assumed that the NRC will require qualified individuals be in i

charge of the Control Room and of fuel handling operations.

It is, therefora, the intention of DPC to provide a license /certtfication program for any new individuals assigned control room or fuel har.dling d"ties.

A retraining /

certification program will also be included for those already licensed /

certified. When these programs are in place, the scheduling requirements for l

licensing / certification examination will be submitted.
