Dear Mr. Farrar:

Subject:

Safety Evaluation Concerning Resolution of License Con'ition d

,  ?.C.(25)(d) for La Salle County Station, Unit 1 I

License Condition 2.C.(25)(d) for la Salle County Station, Unit I required

! Comonwealth Edison to perform an engineering review, conduct a fire test or replace individual components for certain fire door assemblies in the plant. i The license condition pertained to a total of 73 fire door installations. The identified deficiencies were found fully corrected in accordance with your com- i mitment for 67 of the 73 doors, as determined by the NRC staff when they con-  ;

I ducted a site audit in May 1986. As a result of replacing the deficient fire door stops for the remaining six doors and the corrective actions such as a 4

physical examination and testing of the door stops, the staff has concluded that the installation of these six doors now conforms to all applicable NRC fire protection guidelines and requirements and that the intent of License Condition.2.C.(25)(d) has been satisfied.

A copy of our safety evaluation addressing these six doors is enclosed.

Sincerely,

[
