NRC INSPECTION REPORT 50-373/99008(DRS); 50-374/99008(DRS)
Dear Mr. Kingsley:
On March 26,1999, the NRC completed an inspection of your LaSalle Nuclear Generating
Plant, Units 1 and 2. The inspection was conducted from March 11 through 26,1999. At the
cerclusion of the inspection, on March 26,1999, the inspection results were discussed with
members of your staff,
Areas examined during the inspection are identified in the enclosed report. The inspection -
included an assessment and evaluation of engineering design change and modification activ:tiiis
with emphasis on the installation and testing of Unit 2 modifications. The material condition of
I
. Unit 2 was also reviewed. Within these areas, we selectively observed activities in progress,
reviewed plant documents and representative records and discussed schedules and concems
with members of your staff.
Overall, our inspection results indicated that Unit 2 modifications were properly installed and that
the plant material condition of Unit 2 was acceptable. The installation and testing of installed -
modifications, including temporary modifications, appeared to be very good. No problems were
noted with the carry over of work not scheduled for completion during the outage. 'The System
~ Readiness Review & System Turnover to Operations Program provided a thorough review of
the status and material condition of important systems. Plant walkdowns indicated good plant
material condition and no issues were identified during the inspection that would affect the
start-up or have an impact on the operation of Unit 2.
