SUBJECT: NRC ROUTINE EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS INSPECTION REPORT

50-373/99014(DRS); 50-374/99014(DRS)

Dear Mr. Kingsley:

On August 13,1999, the NRC completed an inspection at your LaSalle Nuclear Generating j

Station, Units 1 and 2. The enclosed report presents the results of that inspection. The

inspection examined activities conducted under your emergency preparedness program. No

violations of NRC requirements were identified.

Areas examined within your emergency preparedness program are identified in the report.

Within those areas, the inspection consisted of a selective examination of procedures and

representative records, interviews with personrel, and observation of activities in progress.

The objective of the inspection effort was to determine whether activities authorized by the

license were conducted safely and in accordance with NRC requirements.

During this inspection, we concluded that the emergency preparedness program had been l

'

maintained in a good state of operational readiness. In particular, emergency response

facilities, equipment and supplies were well-maintained. Management support for the program

was strong. Emergency response organization personnel were qualified for their positions, and

interviewed members demonstrated a good knowledge of their responsibilities and emergency

procedures,

in accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter and the

enclosed report will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room.
