Gentlemen:
This refers to the routine safety inspection conducted by Mr. R. A.'Hasse,
Ms. P. R. Rescheske, Mr. G. M. Nejfelt and Mr. R. A. Langstaff of this office
on May'14 through June 13, 1990, of activities at LaSalle Nuclear Power Station
Units 1 and 2 authorized by NRC Operating Licenses No. NPF-11 and NPF-18, and
to the discussion of our findings with Mr. G. J. Diederich and others of your -
staff at the conclusion of the on-site portion of the inspection.

The purpose of this inspection was to determine if design changes and
i
modifications were being conducted in accordance with regulatory requirements.

and to follow up on previously-identified violations and other items of-
concern. Within these areas, the inspection consisted of a selected
examination of procedures and representative records, observations, and
'
interviews with personnel.
No violations of NRC requirements were identified during the course of.this
inspection. Design changes and modifications were being conducted in accordance:
with programmatic and regulatory requirements. Actions on previously-identified
items were appropriate and in most cases complete.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Commission's regulations, a copy of
this letter and the enclosed inspection report will be placed in the NRC
Public Document Room.
