Eto the discussion af ourifindings with Mr. G. J. Diederich and others.of your

staff at the conclusion of the inspection.

The enclossd copy-of out. inspection. report identifies areas examined during :

the' inspection, which was conducted to evaluate your local and integrated +

containment leak rate testing program. Within these areas, the inspection;

consisted of'a selective examination of procedures and representative records,

observations, and interviews;with personnel.

No violations of NRC requirements were identified during the course of this'

, inspec} ion.;

As stated in'the report, lthe last;two cons,ecutive as-found Type A tests at

LaSalle County, Unit 2, have been failures and pursuant to 10 CFR Part 50, .

w Appendix.J.Section III.A.6.(b) and LaSalle Technical Specification 3/4.6.1.2 a

Type A test shall be performed during each. plant shutdown for refueling until

two" consecutive as-found;. Type 'A tests meet the acceptance criteria of

Appendix J. Accordingly, unless you, request,: and are granted, an. exemption

' from this-requirement by.the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation, we 'are '

prequired'.to conduct a tType A test during each refueling outage until two
