WASHINGTON NUCLEAR PROJECT, UNIT 1 (WNP-1)

We have reviewed your_ letter dated March 30, 1984 responding to Generic Letter 83-28, " Required Actions Based on Generic Implications of Salem ATWS Events."

Part 1 of Item 2.1 of Gengric Letter 83-28 required applicants to confirm that all components required to trip the reactor are identified as safety related on all plant documentation and in information handling systems that are used to control all activities performed on this safety related equipment. We have evaluated your response to Part 1 of Item 2.1 and, based on the delayed construction status of WNP-1 and your commitment to address the concern prior l

- to fuel load, have concluded that it is acceptable. Our Safety Evaluation, which is enclosed, should be retained for use in tracking yrur commitment when construction and normal licensing activities resume.
