SUBJECT:

Beaver Valley L' nit .1 - Relief From Examination Requirements for Certain Reactor Coolant Pumps and Valves (TAC 61032) l By letter dated June 17, 1986 and revised by letter dated June 1,.1987, you requested relief, pursuant to 10 CFR 50.55 a(g)(5)(iii), from certain ASME Section X1 inspection requirements for Class 1 pump and valve internals. Me have reviewed your submittals and recorded our review results in the enclosed safety evaluation. The relief you requested is hereby granted.

We have determined that the inspection requireraents are impractical for the itens for which relief is being granted and, pursuant to 10 CFR 50.55 a (g)(6)(i),

that the granting of relief is authorized by law, will not endanger life or property or the coprcon defense ar,d security, and is otherwise in the public interest. In making this determination, we have given due consideration to the bur (er that could result if those requirements are imposed on your facility.
