REQUEST FOR SUPPORT DURING SITE AUDIT AT BEAVER VALLEY

LThe purpose of this letter is to confirm our plan to conduct a site audit to evaluate the nondestructive examinations (NDEs) performed in response to Bulletin 88-08, " Thermal Stresses in Piping Connected to Reactor Coolant Systems." Specifically, we will evaluate your NDE methodology and commitments as compared'with the recommendations in Supplement 2 of the Bulletin 88-08. We have discussed with Mr. Brian Sepelak of your staff and agreed that August 16-17, 1989 would be mutually convenient dates.
The audit will.be performed by Messrs Robert Hermann and Martin Hum of the NRC staff. Please ensure that these persons, who hold L-clearance badges, have access to site areas of interest for this audit, and ensure that appropriate technical personnel and documents are available to support this audit. We will work with Mr. Sepelak on the details.
