SUBJECT: .REQUALIFICATION PROGRAM EVALUATION REPORT NO. 50-412/90-11(0L-RQ)
On May 29 - June 7, 1990,-the NRC administered requalification examinations to,
,
employees of your company who cperate the Beaver Valley Unit 2 Power Station.

The evaluation was conducted in ac:ordance with Revision.5 to NUREG-1020,_
"
Operator Licensing Examiner Standards, ES-601, " Administration of NRC Requalifi-
cation Program Evaluations." The evaluation had two purposes: evaluation.of
the effectiveness of the licensed operator requalification training prr,am at
maintaining the competency of the licensed operators, and examination _oi.the
individual operators to determine if they would satisfy the regulatory require-
ment of passing an NRC administered examination prior to license renewal.- At
'
the conclusion of the examination / evaluation, any generic-~ findings that evolved
i
as a result of the examination were discussed'with those members of_your-staff
identified in-the enclosed report.

As a result of this evaluation, your requalification program has'been assigned
an overall program rating of satisfactory. 'During th*. evaluation,- fifteen of
sixteen individual operators and three of four crews were? evaluated as
i
srtisfactory. One operator and crew were evaluated as unsatisfactory in
tn dynamic simulator portion of the examination. These-evaluations were:
concucted in accordance with the criteria of the draft NUREG 1021, ES-601, as
noted abovt.
In accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the Commission's reguli ions, a. copy of

this letter and the enclosure will be placed in the:NRC Public Document Room.
