SUBJECT:

AUXIL1ARY FEEDWATER SYSTEM By letter dated November 25, 1985, Portland General Electric (PGE) provided a detailed report of the Trojan Auxiliary Feedwater (AFW) System design. The report proposed modifications in certain areas to improve system reliability.

By letter dated April 29, 1986, PGE provided responses to NRC questions expressed during a February 24, 1986 telephone conversation regarding the effects of the intended modifications on PGE's previously acceptable commitments to AFW System Long-Term NRC reccmendations GL-2 and GL-4 (NRC letter and Safety Evaluation (SE) dated October 23,1980).

We have reviewed the above submittals and conclude that the responses regarding the proposed modifications are consistent with the recommendations of GL-2 and GL-4, and that PGE's commitment to the above Long-Term Recommendatior.s is maintained. Our Safety Evaluation is enclosed.
