The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the results of the NRCs 2020 annual assessments for the Region IV nuclear plants that were in the Licensee Response Column of the Reactor Oversight Process Action Matrix and to provide an opportunity for the public to ask questions.

In response to the COVID-19 coronavirus public health emergency, the meeting was held remotely through a Cisco Webex webinar and a Verizon phone bridge. During the meeting, the NRC staff provided an overview of the Reactor Oversight Process, the NRCs response to the COVID-19 health emergency, a description of the Resident Inspector Program, and the overall performance assessment for the subject plants. NRC staff explained that each of these plants operated safely in 2020, and all Reactor Oversight Process cornerstone objectives were met. The NRC determined the performance at each of these plants was within the Licensee Response Column of the NRC's Action Matrix, because all inspection findings had very low (i.e., Green) safety significance, and all performance indicators showed that performance was within the nominal, expected range (i.e., Green).

The meeting was conducted from 5:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. (CDT), with an NRC staff member facilitating the meeting. There were 104 individuals in attendance, 41 of which were NRC staff members available for answering questions. In addition to NRC staff, the attendees included licensee representatives including Arizona Public Service, Energy Northwest, Entergy, Luminant, Pacific Gas and Electric, Union Electric Company, and Wolf Creek Nuclear Operating Company. Other attendees included representatives from the Federal Emergency Management Agency, from other power utilities such as Tenaska, from vendors like Sargeant and Lundy, citizens interest groups from California, and state agencies from Arizona, California, Louisiana, Oregon, and Texas. Representatives from the STARS Alliance were also in attendance, as well as staff from several Senator offices, and members of the public.
