Plant Licensing Branch IV Division of Operating Reactor Licensing Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation

SUBJECT:

SUMMARY

OF FEBRUARY 25, 2021, PUBLIC MEETING WITH NUCLEAR ENERGY INSTITUTE TO FURTHER DISCUSS THE INCLUSION OF TSTF-425 UNDER THE RISK-INFORMED PROCESS FOR EVALUATIONS INITIATIVE On February 25, 2021, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff held a Category 2 public meeting between NRC staff and Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) via teleconference. The purpose of this meeting was to further discuss the inclusion of Technical Specifications Task Force (TSTF) Improved Standard Technical Specifications Change Traveler TSTF-425, Revision 3, Relocate Surveillance Frequencies to Licensee Control - RITSTF [Risk-informed TSTF] Initiative 5b, under the recently NRC-issued Risk-Informed Process for Evaluations (RIPE) (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML20261H475) initiative. The meeting notice and agenda, dated February 5, 2021, are available in ADAMS under Accession No. ML21039A199. A list of attendees is provided in the enclosure.

NRC provided slides for this public meeting, which are available in ADAMS under Accession No. ML21050A203. The NRCs preliminary review indicates that the inclusion of TSTF-425 under the RIPE initiative seems reasonable with some limitations as discussed in the presented slides.

No members of the public called into the meeting. No regulatory decisions or commitments were made at the meeting.

Please direct any inquiries to me at (301) 415-1564 or by e-mail at Siva.Lingam@nrc.gov.
