             Gentlenen:
             This refers to the routine safety inspection conductr ! by Mr. P. L. Hiland
             and others of this office on April 6 through May 10. 1981, of activities at
             Clinton Power Station authorized by NRC Operating License No. NPF-62, and
             to the discussion of our findings with Mr. D. P. Hall and others of your
             stoff at the conclusion of the inspection.
             The enclosed copy of our inspection report identifies areas examined during
             the inspection. Within these areas, the inspection consisted of a selective
             examination of procedures and representative records, observations, and
              interviews with personnel.
             During this inspection, certain of your activities appeared to be in violation
             of NRC requirements, as described in the enclosed Notice. The inspection
             showed that action had been taken to correc; the identified violations and
             to prevent recurraice. Our understanding of your corrective actions is
            described in Paragyph 13.b (4) of the encicsed inspection report. Conse-
            quently, no reply to the violations is required and we have no further
            questions regarding this matter at this time.
             In accordance with 10 CfR 2.790 of the Commission's regulations, a copy of
             this letter and the enclosed inspection report will be placed in the NRC
            Public Document Room.
