GRAND GULF UNIT 1, PROCESS CONTROL PROGRAM (PCP) REVISION 1 By letter dated August 31, 1984, Mississippi Power & Light Company transmitted as Attachment II a revised reference document entitled, " Process Control Program Description, Revision 1," dated February 1984, for Grand Gulf Nuclear Station, Unit 1. Revision 1 to the PCP addresses requirements in 10 CFR 61, dewatering, and controls to ensure a contractor performs solidification / dewatering, services I

properly.

The NRC staff has reviewed this submittal and finds that Revision 1 to the PCP complies with current NRC criteria and, therefore, is acceptable on an interim basis for use with Grand Gulf Technical Specification 6.13. A copy of the staff's safety evaluation is enclosed. Attachment I to the safety evaluation is a request for additional information which should be addressed within six months of the date of this letter.

The acceptability of Revision 1 to the PCP is based on currently available NRC guidelines, but a future revision should address full compliance with 10 CFR 61 when revised guidance becomes available from the NRC. This guidance is scheduled for development in 1987.
