. The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff has completed its review of Entergy's analytical approach for ampacity derating determinations at GGNS. The enclosed safety

. evaluation constitutes the staff's review of the GGNS ampacity derating evaluations for ,

Thermo-Lag fire barrier configurations as required in Appendix K of the draft Temporary l instruction, " Fire Protection Functional inspection," dated April 6,1998. l I

On the basis of its review, the staff has concluded that the GGNS ampacity derating analysis I results are acceptable, and there are no outstanding ampacity derating issues as identified in Generic Letter 92-08 for GGNS. The enclosed safety evaluation may be used as a reference in future staff reviews or fire protection functional inspections on this matter. You should retain all

' documentation related to the resolution of the ampacity issue for future NRC audits or i inspections. j
