By letter dated July 9,1990, Entergy Operations, Inc. (the licensee)-

requested relief from certain requirements for-leakage testing of the reactor coolant system in Section XI of the ASME Code, 1917 Edition, including Summer 1979 Addenda. As an alternative, the licensee proposed to use leakage-testing requirements in the 1983 Edition, Summer 1983 Addendum of the ASME Code.

The NRC staff has completed its review of the information submitted by the licensee in support of its request. The staff's Safety Evaluation is enclosed. Pursuantto10CFR50.5Ea(g)(4)(iv),.thestaffhasconcludedthat the reactor coolant system leakage test requirements in the 1983 Edition, Summer 1983 Addendum of the ASME Code, are acceptable and the staff approved the use of the subsequent edition and addendum of the Code. Therefore, the request is granted.
